The European Aerospace Cluster Partnership (EACP) is a platform of mutual trust and cooperation for European aerospace clusters. The EACP operates in three working groups (WG): Internationalization, Strategy, and Skills & Innovation. This partnership project will support the activities of the EACP WG Skills & Innovation.

The EACP Skills & Innovation workgroup has launched a new project which has now been accepted into the Leonardo da Vinci Partnership EU sponsorship programme. The name of the project is “European Skills Hub for Aerospace”, or EACP Skills Hub for short.

The main goal is to connect actors from vocational training throughout Europe, enabling them to learn about the different vocational education and training systems in Europe and to discuss the requirements for a cross-border European vocational training system.

In the following two years, from August 2013 to July 2015, a total of six workshops are planned for various European countries. Partners will discuss various subjects and produce appropriate goals. Training content and qualification certificates in the field of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and manufacturing will be compared and competencies made more transparent.

Criteria will be jointly worked out in order to make unified standards possible, to make training and in-service training systems more comparable, and to create a cross-border starting point for matching the training content and the industry needs and for developing international education modules. Concepts for solutions to demographic problems will also be presented.

Finally, the project aims to promote the mobility of specialist personnel through the developing network.

Starting Date: August 2013

End Date: July 2015

The main objectives of the European Skills Hub for Aerospace are:

  1. To learn about the organisational structure of cluster management and the VET systems in the participating regions;
  2. To identify regional experts for qualification (qualification programmes) and to implement the topic of qualification within cluster management;
  3. To understand qualification certificates and competences in MRO;
  4. To discuss and define requirements for setting up an infrastructure in international vocational training.
